In a recent interview with Wrestle Talk TV Extra, Bret Hart recently mentioned Rey Mysterio. He said that people like CM Punk and Rey are innovators and are creative. Bret said:

I look at [CM] Punk… I can look at certain wrestlers and I go, this guy is an innovator. Like a Rey Mysterio, who’s done stuff that no one has ever thought of before. Punk has done stuff — really unique moves and you go, ‘gee I’ve never seen anything like that before.’ They innovate all the time, and they create new sequences and moves and things.

Billy Kidman recently talked to WWE Classics about the time where he teamed up with Rey Mysterio to take on Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin at Vengeance 2003. Billy Kidman and Rey have had some history in the past for sure, being tag team champions with one another. Billy said:

“Teaming with Rey Mysterio was always a good thing. We always had great chemistry whether it was against each other or as a tag team. We held titles on multiple occasions in WCW. On that night, we were facing The World’s Greatest Tag Team, who were on a roll. They were actually a really great team. There was a lot of crazy back-and-forth action in that match. There was a lot of near-falls. I remember doing a Shooting Star Press to the floor to both of those guys, which got a big reaction. At the end of the match, there was a blind tag and the champions pinned Rey after a powerbomb-springboard clothesline combination. I tried to come in to make the save, but didn’t quite make it. I just remember it being a good night even though we lost. I always liked teaming with Rey, and also wrestling Charlie and Shelton. I’m proud of that match.”

In a recent interview with the Montgomery Advertiser, WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan mentioned Rey Mysterio. Bryan said how it was a dream come true to wrestle him and how he too, looked up to Rey when he was in school. Bryan said:

“We wrestled the team of Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara once and it was a lot of fun,” Bryan said. “Rey is one of the guys who I looked up to when I was in high school and wrestling him was just a dream come true.”

“Where is Rey Mysterio?” is something that a lot of people have wondered about as of recent. Konnan, a close friend of Rey’s and pro in the wrestling world took his podcast to talk about Rey’s current status with the WWE:

Somebody seems to think that Rey was suspended for the wellness policy. Absolutely incorrect. He is dealing with a family situation right now and he does have permission to be out. They know what’s going on and he will be back soon. He is not injured. He doesn’t have any drug issues – and I’m not covering for him because he’s my boy… but he’s cool, he’ll back soon.”

Have no fear guys, Rey is doing JUST fine with WWE and is NOT in trouble like some assume, and you know what they say when you assume!

In a recent interviewe with mediotiempo.com, WWE Superstar Sin Cara talked about Rey Mysterio and how he has helped him as of recent. Thank you to site visitor L.S. Rey Mysterio’s support was crucial, as the “Master of the 619″ was vital to understand the kind of fight that is handled in the WWE.

“It was hard, fighting in Mexico is different from that of the United States, the ring is bigger, the times are different, the size and weight are different, I had a hard time adjusting, but Rey Mysterio was a great teacher, I 100 percent adapted to that style, “the gladiator of the U.S. company.

“We have in mind after returning to do, my goal with Rey Mysterio is looking to be contenders for the championship of couples having Kane and Daniel Bryan.”

In a recent interview with Wrestling101, WWE Hall of Famer and Wrestling Legend Ric Flair recently mentioned Rey Mysterio as one of his favorite WWE wrestlers. Ric had to say:

Who are the wrestlers that stand out for you in the WWE today?
The first three that come to my mind are John Cena, Randy Orton and Big Show, I really like Rey Mysterio and I think Dolph Ziggler can be great. There are a lot of good guys there right now but it’s just not what it was when you had the likes of Steve Austin, Triple H, Kurt Angle, I think Kurt is awesome, right now he is the best wrestler in the business.

TNA Knockout Rosita has recently stated in an interview with ‘Busted Open’ who were her main inspirations when she was growing up. Rosita mentioned Lita, and then mentioned someone else who they were both inspired by: Rey Mysterio! Rosita praises Rey Mysterio, saying that she wanted to be the female version if him! She said:

“Most of them were guys, but there was one female wrestler that I look up to completely, and that’s where my finisher, the moonsault came from, it’s in dedication to Lita. Right off the bat, I remember seeing Rey Mysterio, a long time ago, and he was the one I was like, ‘wow I want to be just like him!’ I want to be the female Rey Mysterio, mask or not I want to do what he can. So Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, Halloween Havoc 97’ was my favorite match, it was absolutely awesome. I definitely say those two. I always liked Shawn Michaels, there was something about that dance, besides the fact he was amazing, I think when I was younger I was like that dance is awesome, that little shimmy he does with his hips. Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, HBK, and the Hardy’s. When I was younger I went through a little bit of a rocker stage and it was because of them.”

Former WWE Superstar JBL recently conducted an interview with WrestlingInc.Com where he mentioned Rey Mysterio, AKA the man that retired him – twice. In the interview, JBL mentions why he wanted to face Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 25 to retire him. The interview is a really good read and the reason why JBL picked Rey is awesome:

WrestlingINC: For a short while, you went to commentary and you seemed to be doing very well. Fans really seemed to be enjoying it. I remember at that time you said you were retired for good. Did you originally think you were retired and that you wouldn’t be returning or did you know in the back of your mind that it would probably happen at some point?
Layfield: No, no. I didn’t know. It came up during the weekend. I had some physical problems with my back that caused me just some really bad problems. So, that’s when they came up with the idea out of the blue. I think it was in Phoenix, somewhere in Arizona. I wrestled Rey and quit. It happened within two days, it was just something in my back and it got really bad. I was having really bad nerve problems. …. It was just that one day I was a later, and the next day I wasn’t. So, I kind of wanted to finish on my own terms. That’s when I came back and my back slowly started getting worse again. That’s when I came up with the idea to retire at WrestleMania. I just thought it was fun to have Rey do it twice. [Laughs.] Plus, the association of Rey and Eddie, it was kind of my tribute to Eddie in the same vein.

WrestlingINC: So did you know your match with Rey at WrestleMania 25 would be your last match far ahead of time?
Layfield: Oh, yeah. I knew for months and I picked Rey out. I wanted to do it in three seconds and that was the original plan. I’m not sure why they changed it. I wanted Rey to come back before and get beat in three seconds. I wanted to do something historic at WrestleMania and with most heels, that usually back fires on you. I thought that was the perfect way for JBL to go out — just a whining and crying heel that I was. But, it ended up changing the day of and being 20-some seconds. But, I really wanted to put him over just in three seconds. I couldn’t do a match at that point. I couldn’t have done 10 or 15 minutes, anyway. So, I wanted to do something and kind of make it a unique deal for Rey as much as anything then go out. So, yeah, for months I knew that was going to be the last match.

In a recent interview, WWE Diva Eve Torres recently spoke with SportsTownChicago.Com where she mentioned Rey Mysterio! Towards the end of the interview, she lists Rey as her favorite wrestler! She also talks about the fact that she was very excited for his return and how he adores his family. You should listen to the full interview as it’s only 10 minutes long. Interviewer: Who is your favorite wrestler, of course, besides yourself?
Eve Torres: I probably have to say Rey Mysterio. I have to say, when Rey came back recently, I was like a little 12 year old girl. I was like, “yay! Rey is back!” I just believe he’s so exciting, he’s always the underdog, he’s amazing. He’s an incredible, incredible entertainer.

Interviewer: Booyaka, Booyaka. 619. Do you ever talk comics with him? Because he came out as Batman, and you’re notorious as the big Superman/Superwoman fan. Is that like backstage happenings, did you go see the new Dark Knight Rises together?
Eve: -laughs- Ugh, no, I wish. I would have told all my friends “yea, me and Rey Mysterio…we went to the Dark Knight Rises together, yea..whatever, no biggie. We’re like BFFS.” Actually, his daughter always comes around, she is so sweet, he just got a beautiful family. Awesome person.

In a new video, Intercontinental Champion, The Miz walks around the WWE lockerroom asking various superstars and divas their prediction for his match against Rey Mysterio this Sunday at SummerSlam. Miz meets up with Tyson Kidd first and Tyson says Rey Mysterio because “Rey is one of the best highflyers in our generation and he’s going to 619 your teeth down your throat.” Then Miz meets up with a member of the WWE behind-the-scenes worker and he also says Rey Mysterio! Miz then meets up with Heath Slater who says Rey Mysterio again! Heath even says that Rey is “a future hall of famer.” Miz then meets up with Naomi, one half of the Funkettes and also says Rey Mysterio and tells the Miz “because he’s better than you!” Then the Brooklyn Brawler says Rey Mysterio, hands down! Miz continues to ask people, and 3 more say Rey Mysterio. Miz meets up with R-Truth and him and Little Jimmy say Rey Mysterio.
