(The video was shot at Axxess). Although I’m not fluent in Spanish, I got a small piece of what Rey was saying. Skip to 5:53 to see Rey Mysterio speak. Rey talks about him being out with an injury right now and rehabilitation and that the first thing that’s important is his health… The interviewer asks Rey something about Sin Cara and Rey talks about wrestling and their Mexican heritage…. Later on, Mick Foley brings up wrestling Rey in 1994 (Hey, that’s when I was born! ) and how it was a great match. Watch the video, you’ll love it!

WWE.com caught up with Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel backstage celebrating their Survivor Series win. Justin said that the match was insane and it was a really fun match. Tyson then said that himself, Justin and Cara have idolized Rey Mysterio growing up and say how much of an honor it is was to just tag with him. After, Rey said that it he was teaming up with the future of superstars of the WWE. Rey said that combining all four of the styles, they just turn into Voltron! Rey also says that Cara was impressive and then tells Cara the interview question and translates for him, saying that it is amazing to combine the style and they all give their own for sure.

Rey Mysterio recently conducted an interview with ESPN in order to promote WWE 13, which comes out next week! Rey answered fan questions as it was a chat interview. Somethings he discussed included how he was recently ill due to food poisoning last week, when he think he’ll stop retiring and much more. Read below!:

Welcome to SportsNation! On Wednesday, WWE superstar Rey Mysterio stops by to chat about his wrestling career as well as the release of THQ’s WWE ’13 video game which releases on Oct. 30.

Made for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii, WWE ’13 follows up last year’s WWE ’12. The video game provides the most authentic, seamless WWE experience, with improved critical gameplay and presentation elements, while also including the largest wrestler roster to date.

The veteran wrestler Mysterio, @reymysterio, first joined WWE in 2002 and is a two-time world heavyweight champion. In 2006, he won the Royal Rumble, after entering the ring second and is one of 21 wrestlers to be a WWE Triple Crown champion.

Buzzmaster: Rey is here!
Matt (Chicago): What is the worst injury you have suffered from wrestling?
Rey Mysterio: Two injuries have been really bad. My ACL tears and my bicep tear. If I had to put one in front of the other, I would have to say the last ACL tear, which was almost a year and a half ago.

Chris (Denver): How much of a video game player are you?
Rey Mysterio: Enough to get through and to beat my son every now and then. But I could use a little more practice.

Leonardo Jr (torrington CT): how many lucha libre mask do you have?
Rey Mysterio: I want to say close to 500.

Mac from Wv [via mobile]: Do you play as yourself in the WWE games ? If not who do you play as?
Rey Mysterio: I do try to pick myself. That’s the only way I get to enjoy the features of Rey Mysterio in the video game.

Ray Stinger Jr (Pittsburgh): Hi Rey! Which wrestler would you never want to be in the ring with if they were in a bad moood?
Rey Mysterio: I would have to say it would be between Undertaker and maybe Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Matt (Chicago): How do you think your high-flying style of wrestling has given you the success you have had in WWE?
Rey Mysterio: I feel that first and foremost my style has impacted the wrestling audience in the WWE universe because I try to stay innovative. That’s what keeps the fans on their feet wanting more.

Colin (Miami): What’s your favorite video game console to play on?
Rey Mysterio: I would have to say PlayStation.

Rey Mysterio: Definitely the Attitude Era. WCW from 1998 to 2001 which is when Luche Libre pretty muchentered WCW. We were performing every night with high flying non stop action.

Gio (Chicopee) Rey when are you going to go after the wwe championship again
Rey Mysterio: We were going after the tag team titles this Monday, but we lost our opportunity. I would think as soon as we get a rematch with whoever becomes champion in Hell in a Cell.

Ishmam Choudhury (Montreal,QC): Who are you excited to versus with in WWE 13?
Rey Mysterio: I would like to see Rey Mysterio against Stone Cold in there. That’s the fun thing about the video game, you can create a match that you would want to see.

Mac from WV [via mobile]: Do you think that the WWE video games are good for the sport?
Rey Mysterio: Oh, of course. I think if anything, we always promote the fact that what you see on TV you shouldn’t try at home. Next time you feel like you want to get into the wrestling mode and throw your little brother or sister around, pick up the video game and throw each other around on the TV!

Matt (Chicago): What is your favorite match from your career?
Rey Mysterio: Yeah, I have a match that was voted match of the year that was in Las Vegas, Halloween Havoc PPV for the WCE. Eddie Guerrero v. Rey Mysterio.

Ben Walker (United Kingdom): Do you miss the Cruiserweight division and would you like to see it reinstated?
Rey Mysterio: I would love to see it reinstated. That division was a division that got me noticed by the fans.

Matt (Chicago): How long do you want to keep wrestling?
Rey Mysterio: As long as I can go. I’m a person that just relies on faith and God’s will. He will eventually tell me when it’s time.

Mark (New York): Rey, does your son wear the mask to school?
Rey Mysterio: No he doesn’t. A while back, I did get a couple of outfits made for him and my daughter. They’ve definitely outgrew them by now.

Leonardo Jr (torrington CT): What were some your favorite wrestling matches in your early years in the WWE?
Rey Mysterio: I’ve way too many good matches with different opponents. It’s hard to just pick one.

Ryan F (Middlesborough UK): What made you want to be a WWE/F Superstar?
Rey Mysterio: Just following in my uncle’s footsteps.

Jeff (RI): we all see you on TV, but what’s something behind the scenes that people don’t realize about being a WWE superstar?
Rey Mysterio: I think when we are hurt or we’re sick we have to stay on focus. Not to long ago, I wrestled on a Monday night and I had food poisoning. I was in the ring with food poisoning. Sometimes you don’t realize our health. They just see us perform out there and say that was good. But in the back, the cameras aren’t recording anymore and you tend to yourself. In this case, I had to go to the doctor’s right away.

In a recent article about Brock Lesnar, WWE Superstars Rey Mysterio and Triple H talked about Brock and his return this past year. Rey was with the WWE around the same time Brock made his debut, so he’s known him for quite a while. I attached what Rey said about Brock, only. That animosity stems from Lesnar’s 2004 departure from the WWE following WrestleMania XX in order to pursue a career in the NFL. With six years still remaining on his contract, Lesnar signed a non-compete contract with the WWE that allowed him to pursue his NFL dreams but prohibited him from going to another wrestling or MMA organization. When his NFL dreams came to an end after getting cut from the Minnesota Vikings, Lesnar went overseas to compete for New Japan Pro Wrestling, breaching his non-compete agreement in the process. Lawyers from both sides would wrestle in courtrooms for more than a year before mutually reaching a settlement that allowed Lesnar to compete in NJPW and MMA.

“We were kind of disappointed when he left and just didn’t know what was going to happen with him trying out for the NFL and then shocking the world with the UFC,” fellow WWE wrestler Rey Mysterio told Y! Sports. “Overall, he did what he wanted to do and you can’t take that away from any man or human being who wants to accomplish something or prove themselves in a certain sport.”

Mysterio, who wrestled on the same SummerSlam card 10 years ago when Lesnar defeated Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to become the youngest champion in WWE history at age 25, says the animosity is gone from the boys in the locker room.

“When something happens and when it’s unexpected, it shocks the world and it shocks the backstage locker room. Overall, you tend to forget about things and move on with your life. I don’t think anybody has anything to say about Brock. He did what he had to do and accomplished what few will ever do.”

In a recent interview with PJStar.Com, Rey Mysterio talked about his future with the WWE and his highly known past among the WWE and WCW as well as other companies. The interview is a great read especially if you want to get insight on what’s in store for Rey in the future.

Rey Mysterio has defied the odds his entire careers, but that’s to be expected of someone who is well under 6 feet tall and weighs 175 pounds competing in the land of giants.

Injuries and age, though, could be catching up.

The 37-year-old sports entertainer, who has held multiple championships in World Wrestling Entertainment and World Championship Wrestling, is likely not competing in Peoria Saturday because of a concussion he suffered during his Summerslam match against The Miz.

“I did an impact test on Monday in Fresno, Calif., and the results were not too good,” Mysterio said. “There will be an impact test later (Thursday) and first thing tomorrow and we’re going on that. The WWE is strict on its (Wellness) policy right now.”

This injury happened just as Mysterio was returning from a one-year hiatus while recovering from a knee injury. He’s had seven knee surgeries, the most recent occurring in August 2011.

“The knee is where it needs to be at right now,” Mysterio reassured.

Despite the bumps and bruises, the high-flying superstar who’s known for his lucha libre style of wrestling, talked the Journal Star in this Q&A:

Q: You’re 37 years old and seemingly have become of the most celebrated Mexican-American wrestling superstars of all-time. You’ve pretty much held all the major titles in WWE. What does Rey Mysterio have left to accomplish?
A: Well, you know, I get answered that question a lot. ‘What do you need to accomplish, Rey?’ I answer by saying the only thing I would love to do in my career that I haven’t done will be at the end of my career when I thrown in the towel and become part of the (WWE) Hall of Fame.

Q: Is an in-ring retirement in sight yet?
A: No, not at all. After this surgery, it kind of set me back almost a year trying to get my knee back in shape and recovered. I have my limitations as far as what I can do in the ring, but I manage to be creative with my style. I think that is what keeps me still able to perform for my fans. As long as I keep doing that, I’m good to go.

Q: I read online that you made your debut as a 14-year-old. That seems awfully young to start wrestling. Why did you get involved at such a young age and what kind of concerns would you have for someone starting off that young today?
A: I go back to the late 80s, early 90s when I began. Back then in Mexico, lucha libre was very, very big. I had been training seven years already and was anxious to get into the ring. My uncle would run shows outside the city of Tijuana and local shows in (Los Angeles). When I talk about the small independent shows, you’re talking a crowd of 100 to 150 people. I remember wrestling the first time in the parking lot of a church in front of 80 people. Having the opportunity to do that at a young age back then wasn’t that common, but … I had to take a test to see if I was prepared and qualified to get into the ring and get a waiver from my parents that said if something happened to me that (the company) was not responsible. Nowadays, there is much more training and preparation. I guess I had the help of my uncle; he was a professional wrestler and had his own wrestling school. It made things easier. I was happy to do that at such a young age.

Q: What did those early days in ECW mean for your career?
A: ECW was a whole different world for me and for the people I wrestled at the time. Psicosis and Juventud Guerrera and Konnan, these were cats I grew up with and started my career with. Once we were introduced to ECW, we were like this is something that is completely different, extreme. It’s breaking boundaries. We were young. We were wild. We wanted to do anything creative to be on top of the world. We were just happy to be given an opportunity to perform at our best and at something completely new to us and jumping off ladders and breaking tables and having fans interact with your performance. It was a very, very exciting and cool moment in my life and stage in my professional wrestling.

Q: What made the WCW Cruiserweight division so special during the mid-to-late 1990s?
A: It was our style. Our style was probably, at that time, never seen before. It was never seen before on television. The fact we were able to go out there every night … at the time it didn’t (click) with me that we were competing for ratings. We were having fun. (The fans) were loving every moment of it.

Q: When the nWo first formed, there was a memorable moment when Kevin Nash “lawn darted” you into a truck. What are your recollections of that moment and what did it mean to your career?
A: It’s funny because going back to that day, I do remember saying that I’m going to jump on this rail and it led to a mobile home trailer and when I see Kevin Nash coming I’ll dive on him and do a cross body on him. When he caught me and shot me against the motor home, it was almost like in a lawn dart position. My body was straight and he (threw) me and I hit head first and stuck there for a second and then slid down. It’s one of those things that it’s very common to get thrown around but I guess not by superstars who were seven feet tall. It made a big impact in the fact that Kevin Nash was so big in stature and I was 5 foot, 4 (inches) and he did have his way with me. I remember that being brought up for so long (after ward).

Q: You’ve had so many memorable match-up’s over the years. Do you prefer competing against superstars who have a similar style as you do like Juventud Guerrera or Psicosis or do you prefer going against those with contrasting styles like Big Show, Kevin Nash or Batista?
A: It’s hard to say. I love both styles and I love going in the ring with the big boys. I’m the type of person that wants to give my fan base what they want to see and I would think there is a fine line and that 50 percent want to see Rey Mysterio take on the big guys. Then there is that other 50 percent that wants to see Rey Mysterio go 150 mph and do things in the ring never seen before. I try to mix and match.

Q: Will you be in Peoria Saturday?
A: As of right now, I’m just waiting and taking another impact test and finding out the results. Whether I’m there or not, there will be superstars there performing like John Cena, CM Punk, Big Show or Kofi Kingston. It’s going to be one hell of a show.

While Rey was in Austin, Texas for SmackDown this past week, he took part in an interview with Fox Austin. Rey talks about the recent tours in Asia and talks about his childhood in wrestling. Rey talks about his passion for the business, something that we’re all definitely aware of! Rey also mentions his uncle being such an idol to him. He even stated that he is very close to having 500 masks! Rey also talks about Austin being an awesome venue to wrestle at. Rey even says that he loves to sign autographs and take pictures with his fans. Rey and the interviewer also discusses the B. A. Star campaign and bullying. Rey also mentions how happy he is about Mexico winning the Olympics. Watch the interview, as it surely is great!

In an interview with Manila Bulletin, Rey Mysterio took time to speak out about bullying and how it had driven him to launch his career. The interview also states that Rey feels very welcomed in the Philippines and loves the fans compassion for him.

MANILA, Philippines – World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Rey Mysterio has admitted to being bullied as a child.

Although he did not want to go into details, it was, he said, among reasons that prompted him to be part of WWE and Fox International’s anti-bullying campaign “be a STAR,” a nationwide effort meant to ensure a positive and equitable social environment for everyone regardless of age, race, religion or sexual orientation through education and awareness.

“It’s a good initiative that I could relate to,” Mysterio said during a recent chat with Bulletin Entertainment. “I really do believe that there is a great need for people all over the world to address this matter.”

Another inspiration that pushed Mysterio to join the campaign is his daughter Aalyah.

“She joined one of the talks that I gave early on and I was so proud that she was able to grasp the whole meaning of the campaign. I know, because she was in a situation in her school not long after that and she was able to actually apply what she had learned during the talk. So, it was inspiring really, for me, and right there, I thought, this could really be helpful.”

For Mysterio, there is a great need for children to understand individual differences early on in life.

“Positive values are an important tool. These should be inculcated to children because they are, at their age, already forming the attitudes that they are to carry in life as adults,” he said.

But even parents may still have a lot to learn about bullying. “It is important for parents to be in on this because our children need all the support we can give them especially in this day and age,” he said.

As part of the campaign, the 37-year old Mexican-American on Saturday appeared in “Bully Buster,” a talk hosted by family and child development psychologist Honey Carandang and attended by over a hundred Filipino children.

“It was quite fulfilling on my behalf,” he said. “To be part of the endeavor is both an honor and a privilege.”

It is not the wrestler’s first visit. Mysterio and several other wrestling stars visited the country in 2009 for a show.

“I still remember the excitement of that first visit,” he said. “The warmth and graciousness that the fans showed us back then was quite amazing and really, it’s not like anything changed. You guys really know how to make someone feel welcome.”

The three-time world champion enjoins his Pinoy fans to keep on watching WWE on Fox.

“I take my passion and drive from what my fans give me,” he said. “So, as long as I feel that love, I will keep on giving them my best.”

In an interview with Firstpost, Philippines, Rey Mysterio spoke out about the WWE coming to the Philippines and a bunch of other things. Rey says that WWE picks where media tours go and that he hopes they can visit the Philippines more often. In the interview, Rey also discusses his character as Rey Mysterio and how his uncle had established the character first. Rey also states that it is a blessing to be iconic for the children and teens of today. Rey also discusses his future and how he’s willing to take on any challenge. Rey also says that he way more than 500 masks! The interview is great and I suggest you give it a watch.

As Rey Mysterio finished up his media tour in the Philippines, Rey sat down to meet with some fans and even conducted an interview. InterAKTV caught up with Rey and discussed many topics such as Batista making a come back, Mexican wrestlers and Eddie Guerrero. WWE superstar Rey Mysterio is one of the most popular icons in professional wrestling. The high-flying masked wrestler is in town for a two-day Philippine promo tour, including a meet-and-greet session organized by AKTV at Farmer’s Plaza on Thursday. The mall’s activity center was packed with fans all the way to the top floor, and Mysterio got an overwhelming pop from the crowd when he finally appeared. Mysterio gamely signed wrestling memorabilia, including his iconic mask for fans of all ages.

He then made an appearance at Game Three of the Governors’ Cup finals between B-MEG and Rain or Shine. Prior to the game, InterAKTV caught up with the three-time world champion for an exclusive interview.

We understand this is your second visit here in Manila, do you still recall your experience of performing in front of Filipino fans for the first time?
Oh yeah, incredible. I dunno if it was the hype building up the event but I do remember the airport was incredible — fans waiting at the airport, waiting to take pictures, autographs and everything. Hotel was the same. But then when it came down to the night of performing — like wow, it feels really good. It’s awesome.

Filipino WWE fans were happy to see you again here. There was a lot of love for you during your meet and greet session. Were you overwhelmed with the crowd’s energy and reception?
It’s incredible. It’s always very emotional and exciting to go to a different country so far away from yours and to know, to realize to actually live the love of other people. It’s incredible, it’s a beautiful experience.

WWE Superstars do a lot of traveling not only in the U.S. but also in different parts of the globe. With that in mind, how do you keep yourself fit?
You gotta find time to stay in shape. This is what you have to do with your body and this is part of your lifestyle. It consist of eating well and working out to staying fit – you eventually find time to do it it. Whether its 30 minutes a day or 20 minutes a day or an hour and a half a day, you manage to get through it somehow.

You mentioned earlier that you’re a follower of Boxing and a fan of Manny Pacquiao. Would you ever try the sport [of boxing]?
No. I actually am a very big boxing fanatic. I follow most of Manny’s fights – him taking down [Eric] Morales, [Juan Manuel] Marquez, even to his last fight. I think it would be something very hard for me to transition. I give a lot of respect to the boxers and their conditioning – the way they train.

Unfortunately, you don’t get to see how the superstars of WWE train, that would be something interesting to show the people.
The question is always asked, how do you stay in shape, but you never get to show how does a WWE superstar stay in top shape. Let’s see it. We’ve seen [HBO] 24/7, how the boxers stay in shape and condition themselves. I give them a lot of respect. We do something similar to their training but we do it all year round. They do it this season but I don’t know if they do it all year around. My hats go off to them. I don’t think I could do it.

Going back to your 2009 visit here in the Philippines, what was the first Filipino dish that you tried?
I do remember that first time, I was young, and I had Filipino friends when I was in school. I went to a one of my friend’s birthday parties; I must’ve been like 9, 10 years old and they had lumpia. I thought they were tacos. When I asked, “Man, what is this?” and he said, “they’re lumpia.” And it was just delicious, it’s just another level. Now I have some friends that are Filipino that live in San Diego, anytime I want some Filipino food they’d cook always some pancit and some lumpia for me — that was actually my first dish.

In 2006, you won the World Heavyweight Championship – one of the most prestigious titles in the WWE. Was that your biggest achievement since joining the WWE?
Yeah, I would have to say. Right there, the barrier was broken. I believe that once I had accomplished it, get somebody else behind me with probably the same stature, same weight limit that can conquer that again. I can probably say that doors will open for other Superstars to become the future to conquer that again.

You’re by far one of the most successful wrestlers in the WWE coming from Mexico. What can you say about emerging Mexican superstars like Alberto Del Rio and Sin Cara making their mark in the WWE?
It’s beautiful to know that the opportunity has opened for more superstars – Mexican superstars, luchadores. At this point, I hope more take the opportunity, I hope more wanna take the risk. If you don’t take risks, you’re not gonna succeed. You have to go ahead and try and get that chance. They’re not gonna give it to you. You have to scratch and look for it. At one point, WCW was filled with luchadores and it was so exciting – the fans loved it. Why can’t that happen again? I’m sure it can.

The late Eddie Guerrero is not only an icon in Mexican wrestling but also in the WWE. We understand he’s also a close friend of yours, was Eddie was somehow influential to you in terms bringing the best out of you in the ring?
In many ways, in my personal life, in my ring life, he’s more than just a friend, like a brother. He’s a mentor – somebody that I always looked up to and I’ll always will, even though he’s not here. He’s here in spirit.

Can you give your quick thoughts about former WWE superstar and Filipino-American Batista?
Man, I wish he was back here [in the WWE]. I wish he’d come back and book for another run.

Is there a possibility for you and the rest of the WWE Superstars to perform here in the Philippines again?Oh yeah, definitely. I’m hoping we can arrange something and we can have a tour next year, in 2013. I think it would be great.

Finally, do you have a message to your Filipino WWE fans?
Thank you to all my Filipino fans for believing and supporting Rey Mysterio, for giving me the opportunity to succeed once more. I have to risk long injury that I suffered. I am back. I am back to entertain you guys for a very long time.

In another interview, Rey Mysterio has been conducting quite a few interviews during his Philippines promotion tour. In the interview, Rey discusses his moveset being difficult but not impossible. He talks about practicing for so long that he created his own style that worked for him perfectly. Mysterio also talks about the B.A. Star campeign and about bullies. Also, Rey once again says that he is a fan of manny Pacquiao despite being Mexican, because Manny is known for defeating many Mexican boxers.
