Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara are seen backstage as they are approached for an interview. The interviewer congratulates Rey and Sin Cara on their win against the Prime Time Players from Hell in a Cell, last night. The interviewer then asks how is Sin Cara doing, after landing on his head last night, pretty badly. Rey thanks the interviewer and says that they have worked hard since day 1, and that they will only become stronger. Rey asks Sin Cara how he is doing and about him hitting his head and Cara says that he’s ok, thankfully, and it was more of the hit at the time that knocked him out. Rey then says that Sin Cara says that it’s the risk they take as high flyers as the best tag team there is right now. Rey then says they’re ready to move on and find new opponenents.

Rey Mysterio recently conducted an interview with ESPN in order to promote WWE 13, which comes out next week! Rey answered fan questions as it was a chat interview. Somethings he discussed included how he was recently ill due to food poisoning last week, when he think he’ll stop retiring and much more. Read below!:

Welcome to SportsNation! On Wednesday, WWE superstar Rey Mysterio stops by to chat about his wrestling career as well as the release of THQ’s WWE ’13 video game which releases on Oct. 30.

Made for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii, WWE ’13 follows up last year’s WWE ’12. The video game provides the most authentic, seamless WWE experience, with improved critical gameplay and presentation elements, while also including the largest wrestler roster to date.

The veteran wrestler Mysterio, @reymysterio, first joined WWE in 2002 and is a two-time world heavyweight champion. In 2006, he won the Royal Rumble, after entering the ring second and is one of 21 wrestlers to be a WWE Triple Crown champion.

Buzzmaster: Rey is here!
Matt (Chicago): What is the worst injury you have suffered from wrestling?
Rey Mysterio: Two injuries have been really bad. My ACL tears and my bicep tear. If I had to put one in front of the other, I would have to say the last ACL tear, which was almost a year and a half ago.

Chris (Denver): How much of a video game player are you?
Rey Mysterio: Enough to get through and to beat my son every now and then. But I could use a little more practice.

Leonardo Jr (torrington CT): how many lucha libre mask do you have?
Rey Mysterio: I want to say close to 500.

Mac from Wv [via mobile]: Do you play as yourself in the WWE games ? If not who do you play as?
Rey Mysterio: I do try to pick myself. That’s the only way I get to enjoy the features of Rey Mysterio in the video game.

Ray Stinger Jr (Pittsburgh): Hi Rey! Which wrestler would you never want to be in the ring with if they were in a bad moood?
Rey Mysterio: I would have to say it would be between Undertaker and maybe Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Matt (Chicago): How do you think your high-flying style of wrestling has given you the success you have had in WWE?
Rey Mysterio: I feel that first and foremost my style has impacted the wrestling audience in the WWE universe because I try to stay innovative. That’s what keeps the fans on their feet wanting more.

Colin (Miami): What’s your favorite video game console to play on?
Rey Mysterio: I would have to say PlayStation.

Rey Mysterio: Definitely the Attitude Era. WCW from 1998 to 2001 which is when Luche Libre pretty muchentered WCW. We were performing every night with high flying non stop action.

Gio (Chicopee) Rey when are you going to go after the wwe championship again
Rey Mysterio: We were going after the tag team titles this Monday, but we lost our opportunity. I would think as soon as we get a rematch with whoever becomes champion in Hell in a Cell.

Ishmam Choudhury (Montreal,QC): Who are you excited to versus with in WWE 13?
Rey Mysterio: I would like to see Rey Mysterio against Stone Cold in there. That’s the fun thing about the video game, you can create a match that you would want to see.

Mac from WV [via mobile]: Do you think that the WWE video games are good for the sport?
Rey Mysterio: Oh, of course. I think if anything, we always promote the fact that what you see on TV you shouldn’t try at home. Next time you feel like you want to get into the wrestling mode and throw your little brother or sister around, pick up the video game and throw each other around on the TV!

Matt (Chicago): What is your favorite match from your career?
Rey Mysterio: Yeah, I have a match that was voted match of the year that was in Las Vegas, Halloween Havoc PPV for the WCE. Eddie Guerrero v. Rey Mysterio.

Ben Walker (United Kingdom): Do you miss the Cruiserweight division and would you like to see it reinstated?
Rey Mysterio: I would love to see it reinstated. That division was a division that got me noticed by the fans.

Matt (Chicago): How long do you want to keep wrestling?
Rey Mysterio: As long as I can go. I’m a person that just relies on faith and God’s will. He will eventually tell me when it’s time.

Mark (New York): Rey, does your son wear the mask to school?
Rey Mysterio: No he doesn’t. A while back, I did get a couple of outfits made for him and my daughter. They’ve definitely outgrew them by now.

Leonardo Jr (torrington CT): What were some your favorite wrestling matches in your early years in the WWE?
Rey Mysterio: I’ve way too many good matches with different opponents. It’s hard to just pick one.

Ryan F (Middlesborough UK): What made you want to be a WWE/F Superstar?
Rey Mysterio: Just following in my uncle’s footsteps.

Jeff (RI): we all see you on TV, but what’s something behind the scenes that people don’t realize about being a WWE superstar?
Rey Mysterio: I think when we are hurt or we’re sick we have to stay on focus. Not to long ago, I wrestled on a Monday night and I had food poisoning. I was in the ring with food poisoning. Sometimes you don’t realize our health. They just see us perform out there and say that was good. But in the back, the cameras aren’t recording anymore and you tend to yourself. In this case, I had to go to the doctor’s right away.

In regards to Rey Mysterio Suffering a Concussion it’s being reported that he was diagnosed with a pretty severe concussion this past Monday. Rey has also stated that he had another Impact-Test which was performed either yesterday (Friday) or Thursday. WWE reported that Rey will not be able to compete until he is cleared to wrestle, which won’t be for a few weeks because of the severity of the concussion.

I’m sure us 619ers are wishing Rey a thorough recovery. Get well soon, Rey!

Rey Mysterio was featured in a brand new Trident commercial to promote their Trident Mystery flavor. The commercial is in Spanish but sure is great! The commercial begins with a guy opening a pack of the gum and is about to state the flavor of the Trident Mystery gum….and out of nowhere….Rey Mysterio comes riding on a few ostriches! Rey basically says not to reveal the flavor….or face the consequences!

Remember not to reveal the flavor of the gum or Rey Mysterio and his Ostriches will attack you! (;

Us Rey fans have been curious as to why Rey has not appeared on Raw or SmackDown after his SummerSlam match against the Miz this past Sunday, and it’s because of bad news. At SummerSlam, during his match, Rey Mysterio suffered a concussion. WWE posted this for the fans:

WWE.com has learned that Rey Mysterio suffered a concussion at the hands of The Miz this past Sunday at SummerSlam.

According to one backstage source, WWE personnel “suspected [a concussion] because he hit his head.” The following day, precautionary impact testing was conducted and “showed that [Mysterio] is below baseline, which means he sustained some sort of concussion,” the source explained.

WWE.com has confirmed that the San Diego native is not medically cleared to compete at this time. Mysterio did not appear on last Monday’s Raw, and has been removed from all events at least through this coming weekend.

During The Awesome One’s successful Intercontinental Title defense at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles last Sunday, the champion executed a brutal sit-down powerbomb. The maneuver snapped Mysterio’s head against the canvas, which likely caused the trauma and no doubt paved the way for The Miz’s victory. The self-proclaimed “Most Must-See Champion in WWE History” has had his awesomeness questioned in recent months, but The Miz reasserted himself with this dominance over the 619 specialist.

According to WWE physician Michael Sampson, Mysterio “had the first [test] on Monday, which showed us that he was below baseline. The physical exam was normal, but neuropsych testing was below normal. That’s the beauty of neuropsych testing,” he explained. “Based on reaction time and memory, we can measure on a computer, and he was below his baseline. That saves [Mysterio] from causing further injury from the concussion.”

It was also confirmed that Mysterio will not return to in-ring action until he is at baseline and passes an exertion test. To be determined at baseline, Mysterio must pass the aforementioned impact/neuropsych test later in the week. Only then will he be permitted to undergo exertion testing.

WWE.com’s source estimated that the former WWE Champion “will probably be taking [the impact test today] if he’s still symptom-free, or later on this week.”

While Rey was in Austin, Texas for SmackDown this past week, he took part in an interview with Fox Austin. Rey talks about the recent tours in Asia and talks about his childhood in wrestling. Rey talks about his passion for the business, something that we’re all definitely aware of! Rey also mentions his uncle being such an idol to him. He even stated that he is very close to having 500 masks! Rey also talks about Austin being an awesome venue to wrestle at. Rey even says that he loves to sign autographs and take pictures with his fans. Rey and the interviewer also discusses the B. A. Star campaign and bullying. Rey also mentions how happy he is about Mexico winning the Olympics. Watch the interview, as it surely is great!

When Rey Mysterio was in the Philippines, he was being taped for this awesome 30 Minute special produced by Studio 23. While most of the narration is in Filipino, whatever Rey says is in English. This is a documentary that was shown to fans at one of Rey’s signing! Watch the video as it sure is great.

WWE Superstar Hunico conducted an interview last week where he mentions Rey Mysterio. Hunico has made it clear several times that he would love to do a feud with Rey, as Rey is someone Hunico looked up to when younger. Rey has even expressed that he would love to start something up with Hunico one day. Hopefully we can get a Hunico VS. Mysterio feud soon! Q: What are your goals in the near future?
A: I would like to start something with Rey Mysterio. I grew up watching him. It would be great for my career and great for the fans. Obviously, Rey Mysterio means a lot to me and to a lot of people, especially the Mexican people. He’s one of the pioneers who opened a lot of doors for the Mexican wrestlers back in the day.”

WWE posted an article entitled “15 of WWE’s All Time High-Risk Finishers” where they take a look at the finishers that has a high risk. Rey Mysterio’s 619, or a tiger feint kick. They posted:

Named for the area code of San Diego, Rey Mysterio’s hometown, the 619 is a perfect distillation not only of the masked Superstar’s fearlessness in the squared circle, but also of how a finishing move can result in its executor being finished himself.

The 619 requires an opponent to be dazed and draped over the second rope. Gaining momentum by bouncing off the far side ropes, Mysterio sprints across the ring and spins between the cables to land a crushing feint kick on his foe. Many Superstars have been decisively finished just this way.

But the 619 requires not only extraordinary skill and athleticism from the Superstar who is attempting it, but also necessitates its executor to turn his back on his opponent — a recurring “no-no” on this list. If an adversary ducks or moves off the ropes during the lengthy set-up, this finisher will not work. It could even backfire terribly, as leglocks, powerbombs and backbreakers are all effective counters.

Brutally effective when landed, but hazardous to even attempt, the 619 is an “all-in” move and should only be practiced by a talented and fearless competitor. Although the high-flying Mysterio is certainly that Superstar, even he can be caught sometimes.
