Top 25 of 09′
In a Recent “Top 25″ Rey Mysterio VS. Dolph Ziggler reached the tenth spot in The Top Matches of 2009 entitled “Almost Famous”. The post read;
Few Superstars have looked as great in defeat as Dolph Ziggler. Throughout 2009, the cocky, young superstar was infatuated with the Intercontinental Championship, an obsession that led him to a rematch with Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam. A month prior, Ziggler had lost to Mysterio at Night of Champions and he was looking for retribution. Poised and ready, the bleached blonde blowhard went at the former World Champion with a sharper knowledge of his opponent, reversing Rey’s offense and even dodging the 619. In the end, Dolph was unable to dethrone the high-flying veteran, but left the ring
looking better than ever.
Rey Mysterio VS John Morrison for the Intercontinental Championship earned spot number eight, entitled “Golden Guru”. The post read;
You can’t call yourself the Guru of Greatness without doing something special. For John Morrison, a chance at greatness came on the Sept. 4 edition of SmackDown when he stepped into the ring with Rey Mysterio. With the masked marvel’s Intercontinental Championship on the line, the two Superstars put on an athletic, high-flying clinic that tore the house down. Morrison took advantage of his golden opportunity, winning the Intercontinental Title and solidifying his position as one of the major players in WWE.
Rey Mysterio VS. Chris Jericho then reached the second spot, earning the Second Best Match of 2009, entitled “Saving Face ! ” The post read;
Chris Jericho made it his business to humiliate Rey Mysterio in 2009. At Extreme Rules, Jericho yanked Mysterio’s mask off during their match – the ultimate insult to a hooded wrestler. The master of the 619 knew he had to defend his honor, so at The Bash he put his mask on the line against Jericho’s Intercontinental Championship. This time, however, Mysterio came prepared. When Jericho pulled off Rey’s mask again, he was shocked to see a second mask underneath. The Ultimate Underdog took advantage of Jericho’s confusion, pinning him to win the title and keep his dignity.
